About
Your Startup, Your Story (YSYS), founded by Deborah Okenla, is a startup network dedicated to connecting different people with opportunities in tech. Through community-driven programs, YSYS promotes diverse founders and talent and advocates for an inclusive startup ecosystem through campaigns and seminars. Through its interactive D&I workshops, YSYS assists organizations in creating diversity and inclusion policies and brings together changemakers to address critical challenges affecting the startup community and generate actionable campaigns. It has assisted over 17, 000 diverse people to advance in technology since 2017.
Task
YSYS was undergoing an identity rebranding, and the website needed to be updated. I was entrusted with revamping its website and assisting them in thinking about and communicating its messages.
Solution
To appropriately portray the beauty and message of YSYS, I focused on what made it so special: its diversity, community, and talents. I used photography to depict its diversity by using photographs of people of various races. In addition, I assigned a colour to each page of the website to make them stand out while remaining connected. This referred to the platform's ability to link individual talents through its communities.
