This is a personally initiated project.
In anticipation of its fourth annual conference, The International Institute of DNA Research (IIDR) initiated a joint campaign inspired by the global anti-racism movement. The campaign attempted to raise awareness of racism and fight discrimination, xenophobia, antisemitism, and intolerance by advocating equality, tolerance, and diversity among various ethnic groups.
The campaign was divided into two major phases, with the tagline "Equal As All Races Should Be." It began with a video advertisement aimed at spreading the concept of equality. The first phase of the campaign raised awareness by using information ads on social media and outdoor commercials to educate individuals of all cultures about the perils of racism and the benefits of embracing diversity and equality.
The campaign's second phase disseminated daily information targeted at eradicating racist and discriminatory attitudes and ideas while also supporting attitudes that favour plurality, tolerance, and equality and presenting the world with an ideal racism-free society. This phase lasted until the conference.
The conference's topic is "Racial Equality As The Standard," and it featured keynote speakers from diverse backgrounds and ethnicities, as well as professions ranging from advocates to activists, educators, and others. The three-day conference took place from November 15th to 17th, 2020.
IIDR's visual identity was updated for the Conference to reflect the event's theme of equality. Each existing visual language element was redesigned to enable the organization to take the lead in the battle for racial equality. For the conference, a new design language was also created. The new design language emphasised humanity and was symbolized by a diamond, as diamonds are renowned to last forever. Different shapes were also added to represent the various races we had in the world, which were contained within the diamond, symbolizing that despite our differences, we were all still human and equal.
